6th Free-Them Walk - 6th Free-Them Freedom Walk
6th Free-Them Freedom Walk raises awareness and funds to end human trafficking and exploitation in Canada.
The Free-Them Freedom Walk is an event to raise awareness and funds to end exploitation in Canada. This September hundreds of people will gather in the morning to attend our honorary ceremony and then head outside for a 5KM freedom walk to raise awareness to end exploitation in Canada. This year more than 500 attendees are expected to be present, of which will include, civilians, law enforcement, politicians and notable persons from across Canada.
Most people think that human trafficking only happens in other countries around the world. But human trafficking is happening right here in our own backyards. 87% of victims rescued in Canada are Canadian AND the average age of entry into forced prostitution - sex slavery, is just 13 years old. These are kids, young children who need us to fight for them and need our support to get them out of this life of exploitation!
What Are We Raising Money For?
This year, all the funds raised from the 6th Free-Them Freedom Walk are going towards new housing for victims of sex trafficking that our friends at Covenant House Toronto will be opening this Fall 2018.
There are more than 30 million people in global slavery today
87% of those trafficked in Canada are Canadians.
The average age of entry into forced prostitution and exploitation in Canada is 13 years old.

RAISING MONEY TO COMBAT SEX TRAFFICKING AND SUPPORT A NEW HOUSING PROGRAM FOR VICTIMS OF SEX TRAFFICKING IN TORONTO
This year, funds raised from walkers and donors will go toward a new Supported Housing for Victims of Sex Trafficking being opened by Covenant House Toronto in the Fall 2018. Along with The Rogers Home, advocacy and sex trafficking prevention programs offered by Covenant House, this new house will provide services in the community for up to 6 girls at a time between the ages of 16 to 24. It will be a place of respite in an unpredictable time. The program will provide for basic necessities, medical care, and court support, safety planning, counselling, and coordinated specialized supports in the community. This house will be the first of its kind in Toronto, meeting the needs of some of the most at-risk and vulnerable girls.
